I've lived here in America for the last two years of the Clinton Administration.

And here we are, in the midst of the last two years of the Bush Administration.

And what do I see?

The same goddamn thing all over again.

Nothing's getting done. Everyone's cockblocking each other. And for what? Leverage for next year's elections, of course!

It's sickening sometimes. The country's falling apart and what do our leaders do?

Impeachment. Sex scandals. Tearing each other apart politically.

And this is from both sides.

In the Clinton presidency, it was the Lewinsky scandal. This time, we have the Democratic Party systematically destroying the Bush Administration leading up to the 2008 elections. It's rather sickening, cause nothing's getting done.

Just yesterday, we had an Al Gore Circlejerk that wasted hours. Hours that could have been used on compromising on the war budget. But no! AL GORE HAS TO HAVE HIS FUCKING CAMERA TIME! And everyone HAS to agree that there is Global Warming, or you're a heathen, an idiot, and an ignoramus. Not necessarily in that order, but then again Al was preacing to the goddamn choir, wasn't he?

Hey, remember when the Democrats came in power earlier this year that their first agenda was the raising of Minimum Wage. Where is it now? COCKBLOCKED. Put aside for the War Funding issue that they'll never agree on because the less funding for the troops, the worse Bush looks.

The worse Bush looks, the better their chances of capturing the White House in 08.

And I am utterly disgusted.

You think the Democrats are looking out for us when they go after Gonzales? Fuck no. They're systematically destroying the Bush Administration to make them stronger for the upcoming election.

The Republicans aren't doing any better. They're fucking up. They don't know how to counteract the onslaught, so they remain with their ears closed, drowning everyone out.

And I say to them, as one of their 200 million bosses, to shut the fuck up and work. FUCK the elections. We have the goddamn power. We can kick you out if we have to, and all this popularity contest bullshit is NOT FUCKING HELPING.

This kind of bullshit is why I'm in a third party, and will be till the idiots realize that this isn't a popularity contest. This is the progress of the most powerful goddamn country in the world we're talking about. Not whoever looks pretty under pressure like these idiots want us to believe.

The way things are going now, we're only voting for whoever's going to fuck us in the ass gentler.

I'm thinking of using this as a Rant journal. So here we go.

I was watching Fox News earlier (Oh, GOD, this makes me so fucking evil), when they had on some experts talking about Oil Prices. One of the regular Fox News contributers said that we should drill oil from our own country. Another said that we should put money on alternative fuels. And an environmentalist said that we can't drill oil because we'd be endangering wildlife.

Most of the arguments made me very angry, for common sense did not spring through.

Let's look at Alternative Fuels. Good idea, but how feasible is it in the short-term? Liberals are notoriously like ADD sufferers. They like to say what's feasible, but get grumpy when it doesn't happen fast. Pulling out of Iraq, anyone?

Anyhoo, back to Alternative Fuels. They DO realize that even if you pump billions of dollars into research, real results could take years. YEARS. It won't alleviate the current crisis, for one. Two, there's also the matter of current vehicles. How soon can alternative fuel add-ons get so mainstream and be accessible AND ECONOMICALLY FEASIBLE (AKA cheap) so you can use them on your current vehicle?

Face it...Alternative fuels may be a good idea, but it's still ways off from being a real solution.

Conclusion? There's Oil in Alaska and there's Fuel Reserves. Lots of it. USE IT.

Next, Environmentalists. Oh, GOD, do I want to hurt you people. Jesus CHRIST, do I want to hurt you all. OK, you want to save the environment. Good. But, Christ, think of the world you live in. We're still a fossil fuel based economy. We still run on oil. You want to help? Put your money where your mouth is and help with Alternative Fuel research. Stop spewing bullshit on my TV and actually DO SOMETHING TO HELP THE ENVIRONMENT.

As for the environment in Alaska? Yeah, Polar Bears and Penguins that can be transferred somewhere with the same environment. Big fucking deal.

Conclusion? There's Oil in Alaska and there's Fuel Reserves. Lots of it. USE IT.

Toji and Kensuke had overruled him. They were going to have the pilot meeting at this apartment whether he liked it or not. Asuka answered the door and let the three boys in, not making eye contact with Shinji. Shinji himself noted that she smelled of his favorite perfume. Looking around in the apartment that he lived in for nearly two years, he saw the disarray that his absence left. Scattered magazines all over the couch, two-week old dishes piled up on the sink, and it looked like the hamper overflowed from the open bathroom.

Noting his look, Asuka spoke out. "Yeah, it's gone to hell here without the great Shinji around. Now go sit. I want to hear what you have to say."

"You could be a less bitchy, you know." said Toji. "He did agree to see you today."

"Fuck off, stooge. I want to hear this dumbkopff defend himself." retorted Asuka.

Shinji couldn't help but smile. "Well, someone's got her spine back," he smirked.

Asuka blushed. "Shut up and get on the couch...FOR THE MEETING, HENTAI!" she shouted as she throw her magazine at Kensuke, who chuckled at her suggestive intro.

Shinji simply sat down in the middle of the couch, waiting for the redhead to calm down.

"Well," he began, "As we all have guessed by now, our Evas have the souls of our mothers. NERV saw fit to hide that fact from us to shield us...but we're not children anymore. That is why the first Unit 04 exploded when it was tested in the United States. Kensuke wasn't there, so the Eva's core rejected the pilot.

"The last battle we had, I tried--and I'm sorry about this, Asuka--to contact my mother within the Eva. I asked for help. That's how I managed to activate Berserk mode. The potential was always in the Eva units, but none of us ever knew how to tap into it. That's how we activate Berserk mode. We need to ask the Evas...no, our mothers...for help."

The three pilots absorbed this information. Shinji knew the implications of this revelation to Asuka, which was why he was reluctant to tell her. His instinct was still to protect her.

Asuka stood up and walked out on the patio. Giving a knowing look to Toji and Kensuke, Shinji went to her while the two quietly slipped out.

Opening the sliding glass door and seeing her pale form in the moonlight, the instinct to just embrace her was hard to ignore. But he wanted to talk to her. He wanted to know if she was OK.

As if sensing this, Asuka turned to him with tears in her eyes. "Why, Shinji?"

Knowing her meaning, he simply nodded.

Stepping forward, he took her into his arms. She didn't struggle and just cried on his shoulder.

"Asuka...I know what this means for you. More than anyone else. But we have no choice. You must face her."

"I know, Shinji," she said between sobs. "I just don't want to see her again."

"Asuka," said Shinji as he absentmindedly stroked her hair, "you do know that what happened to your mother after her test on Unit 02...the mother who ignored you wasn't your real mother. Your real mother is in Unit 02. She's protected you all this time." Shinji took Asuka's chin and gently made her look up into his eyes. "Don't be afraid of her."

"Shinji..." Asuka said, pushing on his chest with her left hand. "Shinji, we can't do this. Every fucking instinct I have right now is to kiss you, but you left me for..."

"It was your idea, silly." he said softly as he embraced her from behind, nuzzling her hair. "I just have to figure out how to leave her. And don't think I didn't notice you wearing that perfume I like."

"Hmp." grumped Asuka. "Thought you'd like it."

Turning her around, Shinji pressed himself against her, his breath hot on her ear.

"I'll always want you, Asuka Langley Sorhyu. I'll figure things out...just...wait for me."

He kissed her forehead and embraced her tight.
